One News Australia reports the news straight. We are openly centre right, and we think telling you that up front is more honest than pretending to have no view at all. Our opinions live in our opinion pieces and are labelled as such. Our news reporting is held to the standards below.

Accuracy and verification

We check before we publish. Where we state something as fact, we have a basis for it: a document, a court finding, an on the record statement, a named source, or credible reporting we can stand behind. Where something is an allegation or still before a court, we say so. Where we are drawing a conclusion or offering analysis, we make that clear.

Sourcing

We prefer primary sources: court judgments, official records, transcripts, named individuals, and documents we have seen ourselves. We protect confidential sources. We do not pass off speculation as fact.

When we report on court proceedings we report them fairly and accurately, and we distinguish between what has been alleged, what has been found, and what remains contested. Where a court has made a finding, we report it as a finding. Where a matter is still before a court, we report it accordingly and within the law.

Fairness and right of reply

Where our reporting makes a serious claim about a person or organisation, we seek their response and give them a fair opportunity to provide it. If they decline or do not respond, we say so.

Independence

We are independent and Australian owned. We are funded by readers, not by political parties, governments, or undisclosed backers. If a piece is sponsored or involves a commercial arrangement, it is clearly marked.
